Protect the Appalachian Trail
Send an email message through the Appalachian Trail Conservancy website to stop the Mountain Valley Pipeline from destroying our special region! The MVP pipeline would cause “irreversible damage” as it runs parallel to the Appalachian Trail for over 20 miles, carves ugly gashes in the landscape that will be seen from 90 miles away, crosses multiple fresh water sources and destroys protected forest areas.
Visit the AT Conservancy website for an easy way to send letters to your representatives and government agencies. This is the first time the Appalachian Trail has ever opposed any project or crossing of the trail. They generally work with companies and government agencies to mitigate damage. However, they were unable to make any progress in justifying this project or reducing the harm. Instead, they concluded that “the proposed pipeline will needlessly devastate the Appalachian Trail on an unprecedented scale.”
Attend EPA hearing on Scott Pruitt’s Proposed Repeal of the Clean Power Plan in Charleston, WV: Nov. 28-29. The ONLY public hearing on Pruitt’s proposal to repeal the Clean Power Plan will take place in West Virginia because they expect a huge pro-industry rally. Please … plan to make it to this event and show that not everyone in WV is a push-over for Big Oil/Gas/Coal. Gutting the CPP will only invite more and faster destruction of West Virginia’s priceless, precious mountains and water. A counter hearing is also being planned.
